Barry Doan

Barry Doan's areas of responsibility include Risk Management, Compliance and Administrative Oversight, as well as FirstOntario’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Social Purpose programs.

He joined FirstOntario in 1995, then called Avestel Credit Union, as the Accounting Manager and was quickly promoted to the lead financial position, Chief Financial Officer, a role he proudly held until June 2022 when he became Chief Risk Officer. Prior to joining FirstOntario, he held a variety of positions at the assurance practice of Grant Thornton LLP, Chartered Professional Accountants (Doane Raymond).

Barry holds designations as a Chartered Director, a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Chartered Accountant. He obtained his Masters of Accounting and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Waterloo.

He sits on the board of directors of the Central 1 Trust Company and Chairs their Audit and Risk Committee; he is also a Director and the Treasurer of Agora Network Ministries, a registered charity.
