Rick Sroka
A Chartered Professional Accountant and Certified Management Accountant with over three decades of experience, Rick Sroka has always had a passion for the credit union system. His first mortgage was with his local credit union and he went on to become elected to the Board of that same credit union.
Rick’s knowledge, experience and expertise allows him to make a meaningful contribution to the Board and future growth of FirstOntario. Rick was Vice Chair of Rochdale Credit Union and Chair of their Audit and Governance Committees prior to Rochdale’s merger with FirstOntario. Rick currently has his own accounting practice and began his career back in 1985 as a senior accountant with Millard, Rouse & Rosebrugh Chartered Accountants in Simcoe, Ontario.
From here he expanded on his experience, taking on the role of Employer Heath Tax Auditor with the Ministry of Finance in Brantford, Ontario. In this role he performed payroll audits on Ontario corporations. Branching out even more, Rick became the Controller and HR Manager at Atlas Hydraulics Inc. before starting his own practice.
Rick was also a 25 year Member of the Polish Alliance Brant Credit Union Board in Brantford, Ontario, where he was the Chair of Audit Committee and President at the time of its merger with Rochdale Credit Union. Rick sat on the Board of Directors of Rochdale for three years where he finished his term as Vice Chair of the Board and the Chair of the Audit and Governance Committees.
Today, Rick is proud to sit on FirstOntario’s Board, offering his considerable accounting experience. During his time on FirstOntario’s Board of Directors, he has achieved his Certified Director, Accredited Canadian Credit Union Director and Audit Designations.
Rick currently resides near Brantford, ON and is married to Alice and has three grown children and six grandchildren.
