Reporting fraud
If you suspect online fraud or a compromise of your financial information, act quickly to protect yourself from potential impacts.
Step 1
Collect your thoughts and gather all information about the fraud
This information may form an important part of any fraud investigation and could be used as evidence. Take screenshots of web pages, web banners, links, emails and anything else you may have clicked on.
Step 2
Protect your identity and accounts
- Call Creative Arts Financial at 1-866-800-2787 and contact your other financial Institutions to report the incident.
- Place flags on all your accounts and request new debit and credit cards.
- Change all of your passwords and account PINs.
- Have your computer and devices scanned for malware and spyware by a professional service.
- Call Equifax at 1-800-465-7166 and TransUnion at 1-800-663-9980 to place a fraud alert on your credit bureau file.
Step 3
Report the incident
- Contact local police to file a police report and write down the file number for future reference. If you find suspicious activity on your credit report, update your file with the police.
- Contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or through the Fraud Reporting System.
