Board of Directors Election 2026
Voting is now open for FirstOntario’s Board of Directors election. Creative Arts Financial members 18 years of age or older who are members in good standing as of January 28, 2026, are eligible to vote in our Board of Directors Election.
For this election, there are four vacancies on the Board. The four candidates with the most votes will be elected for a three-year term.
FirstOntario is a successful financial institution with over $7 billion in assets under management. The credit union regulator, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario, requires that qualified members with the necessary experience serve on FirstOntario’s Board of Directors.
To be eligible to serve on FirstOntario’s Board of Directors, candidates, at a minimum, must:
- Be 18 years of age of older
- Be a FirstOntario or Creative Arts member in good standing
- Have been a member of FirstOntario or Creative Arts for the past three years
- Meet the requirements from the Credit Unions & Caisses Populaires Act and FirstOntario’s By-laws
- Have governance experience from previously serving on a Board of Directors or through previous working experience in a governance capacity
- Have financial literacy experience
This year, your Board of Directors also established two additional areas of competency that are needed on the Board. These competencies are risk management oversight, and information technology governance.
FirstOntario’s Governance Committee interviewed all candidates for this election and recommended the Board endorse the candidates they believe have the required qualifications and experience to best serve on your Board as set out by our regulator and credit union. We ask that you please take into consideration the Board’s endorsed candidates when casting your votes.
